2. Back Blowhole
Before I did any modding, I took everything apart carefully, so that way I knew how to get it back together and so I didn't get everything all fucked up while modding. Plus, I take NO responsibility for any damage you may do to yourself or whatever else. Please use all safety precautions, including safety goggles and common sense. That outta the way, lets go...
Now that I finally received my Coolpix 880, I could start with some kick ass pics. As you can see, only 2 of the panels were removable, and the top panel was riveted on there. So, I got rid of those rivets first of all. I did that by drilling through the rivet and using a combination of brut force, a drill, and a needle-nose pliers, I got them out. Now all of a sudden we have 3 removable panels :) However, to get the top back on later we will need to re-rivet or get some screws.
Now that I got that panel off and everything outta the case, I started with the Dremel! First thing that had to go was that stock back blowhole. There was all this metal obstructing the airflow. As you can see, I used a diamond coated cutting wheel, mannn..., this thing cut like a knife through butter. Took about 1 minute and then you can see what it looks like with that "tumor" removed.
Unfortunately, I had some rough abrasions that I needed to get rid of so I didn't cut myself later.
Just popped in the grinding wheel into the Dremel and I grounded down and smoothed out the edges. After about 5 minutes, it is so smooth. Check out the pic with the finger, and no, it is not my schlong.
Now I can get my 80mm Panaflo running smoothly. Well, that outta the way, time to move on to the front blowhole and its obstruction. Once I made way for the 120mm Panaflo that will go up front, I could continue with the next phase. Read on.
